ILOILO CITY – United States Ambassador MaryKay Carlson vowed stronger American ties in the province and city of Iloilo.

“There were discussions in areas of (stronger) cooperation between the United States and Iloilo. We have long been partners in prosperity as we are strong allies,” said Carlson.
“We are taking this opportunity to further develop our exchanges with the United States,” added Iloilo Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. after a meeting with the ambassador.
Carlson met Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas to discuss more American investments, particularly in the business process outsourcing in Iloilo.
She also met representatives from the education, health, and agriculture sectors, US Peace Corps volunteers assigned in Iloilo, as well as the United States Government Alumni Association-Panay and Guimaras).
Carlson visited the Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center which has equipment donated by the United States Agency for International Development to boost response mechanisms during severe weather.
