Police net P44.9-M shabu, marijuana in Negros Occidental in 2024


BACOLOD CITY – Police seized shabu and marijuana valued at P44.9 million in Negros Occidental in 2024.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office confiscated 6.5 kilos of shabu valued at P44.7 million and 1.3 kilos of marijuana worth P191,702, P9.8 million higher than 2023 with P35 million. 

Lawmen conducted 1,003 anti-drug operations in 2024 – 806 buy-bust, four search warrants, 118 arrest warrants, 71 police responses, and four checkpoint operations – that resulted in the apprehension of 1,235 persons comprised of 90 high-value individuals and 1,145 street-level individuals.

Of the 31 police stations in Negros Occidental, Silay City recovered illegal drugs valued at P8.4 million, followed by Kabankalan City with P8.2 million, and San Carlos City with P6.5 million. The municipality of Candoni had the least with P12,478.

Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said they will intensify anti-illegal drug operations further this year in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and the community.
