"I think it’s too premature but it’s her privilege," Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said in an ambush interview on Wednesday, Jan. 15, on the sidelines of the media launch of Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting Philippines 2025 at the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) central office in Manila.

Bersamin made the statement as he was sought for reaction on the plan of Duterte, President Marcos' running mate in the 2022 elections, to vie for the presidency in the 2028 polls.

During a meet-and-greet in Tokyo, Japan over the weekend, Duterte said she is "seriously considering" running in the 2028 presidential elections.

“Yes, ma’am! We are seriously considering,” she said when asked about the possibility of her running in 2028.

The Vice President was the President's running mate in the previous elections, forming a political alliance dubbed "UniTeam."
