Mimaropa crime incidents down by 30.5% in first two weeks of 2025

Police forces in Mimaropa were able to reduce crime incidents by 30.5 percent in the first two weeks of 2025 compared to the same period last year, including a significant 92.31 percent reduction in rape cases.

Police Brig. Gen. Roger L. Quesada, director of the Police Regional Office 4-B attributed the crime reduction to intensified anti-criminality campaigns and strengthened community collaboration in the Mimaropa region, which covers the Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

Citing data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Quesada said a total of 139 crime incidents were reported from Jan. 1 to 13 this year, compared to 200 incidents reported during the same period last year.

He said a significant 64.10 percent drop was observed in the eight focus crimes with only 14 incidents reported this year compared to 39 last year.

The eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping, and motorcycle theft.

Among these, notable reductions include a 92.31 percent decrease in rape cases, an 80 percent decline in theft, and a 33.33 percent drop in physical injuries.

"This significant crime drop highlights the dedication of our personnel, the strong partnership we have built with our communities, and the success of our intensified anti-criminality campaign," said Quesada.
