Two people died and 20 others were injured in a collision involving a modern jeepney and a tricycle in Calumpit, Bulacan, on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

According to the Calumpit police, the jeepney's brakes failed, causing it to collide with an oncoming tricycle before plunging off a bridge near the highway.
Among those injured was a student from the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) of Bulacan State University, who is now receiving treatment at Bulacan Medical Center (BMC). A woman and her cousin, who were passengers in the tricycle, along with the tricycle driver, died in the crash.
The driver of the modern jeepney stated that he attempted to find a way to stop the vehicle to avoid harming the passengers but the brake failure led to the tragic incident.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
