7 gun ban violators nabbed in Nueva Ecija


CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Police arrested seven individuals for violating the election gun ban in this province on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Police Col. Ferdinand D. Germino, Nueva Ecija police chief, said the suspects were apprehended in checkpoints in the municipalities of San Leonardo, Jaen, Talavera, and Quezon and this city.

Recovered from the suspects were various guns, bullets, and shabu. Suspects face appropriate charges.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-2 said Sunday that they have established 149 checkpoints in Cagayan Valley to implement the gun ban.

Batanes has six, Cagayan, 38; Isabela, 42; Nueva Vizcaya, 22; Quirino, 15; Santiago City, 11; and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-2, 15.

"The establishment of these checkpoints represents a significant step in our comprehensive election security plan. Our collaboration with the Comelec, AFP, and PCG is crucial to ensuring a safe and secure voting process, and we are committed to working together to maintain peace and order throughout the election period. We urge all citizens to cooperate with our officers at the checkpoints,” Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Marallag Jr., PRO-2 chief, said.
