The mayor said the garbage collected was from Jan. 8 to 10. She added that this year’s cleanup was faster and better, as most of the trash was collected before sunrise.

“Nakolekta na po ng MetroWaste, PhilEco, at Department of Public Services ng City Hall ang mga basura—hindi lang mula sa Traslacion, kundi pati na ang backlogs mula noong pagpasok ng Bagong Taon (MetroWaste, PhilEco, and the Department of Public Services of City Hall have collected waste not only from the Traslacion but also from the backlogs since the New Year began),” she said.

The Manila DPS immediately started collecting trash left by devotees after the Andas of Jesus Nazareno left Quirino Grandstand at around 4:41 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.

It said that six trucks roamed the area to collect garbage, which was then brought to Pier 18 in Tondo, Manila.
