As early as the first hours of the event, crowd estimates revealed an increase in attendance compared to last year’s procession, especially in Quirino Grandstand and Quiapo.
The early hours of Traslacion 2025 showed a rise in the number of devotees gathered across Manila.
This year, the crowd has reached 220,000 at the Quirino Granstand which is reportedly higher than the previous year’s event.
After the Misa Mayor at 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., around 77,000 devotees followed the image of the Jesus Nazareno while large groups of devotees were seen heading to Quiapo Church.
Jerico, 29, said he and his friends arrived early at the Quirino Grandstand to attend the Misa Mayor but they were unable to enter the grandstand due to the overwhelming number of people.
He said they noticed a larger crowd this year than last year.
The Nazareno command center said around 11,500 people were estimated to be at the Quiapo Church, while 80,000 at Luneta.
Despite the larger crowds, authorities are ensuring that the areas remain safe for all participants.
With the increased number of attendees, there have been added measures for crowd control and medical assistance to manage the flow of devotees.
As Traslacion 2025 progresses, it is expected that the crowd size will continue to grow, potentially surpassing last year’s final count.
