BACOLOD CITY – A 51-year-old farmer was gunned down by the New People’s Army in Barangay Bagonbon, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Police Major Ryan Villasario, deputy chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, said the victim, Elbrito Ancero, was tending to his cow when unidentified armed men arrived and shot him.
The victim died from multiple bullet wounds. Police recovered a spent 5.56 mm shell in the crime scene.
The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command admitted killing Ancero as punishment for being a rapist, leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army, and a military intelligence asset.
Villasario said the victim had no criminal record. He said that they will continue to investigate the incident based on evidence and statements from witnesses.
