The Pasig City local government paid tribute to its delegates to the Batang Pinoy 2024 National Championships in Puerto Princesa City on Monday, Jan. 6.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto led city officials in recognizing the participants' excellence, determination, and sacrifice during the competition. Pasig City emerged as the Overall Best Performing Local Government Unit.
In total, 276 medals were won by the Pasig delegation, including 103 gold, 62 silver, and 111 bronze medals.
"Bukod sa certificate of recognition na iginawad, nakatanggap din ang 208 atletang Pasigueño na nagwagi ng medalya, pati rin ang 103 coaches ng mga ito, sa Batang Pinoy 2024 ng cash incentives na may kabuuang halaga na P2.2 million. Ang halaga ng cash incentives na natanggap ng mga ito ay nakadepende sa medalya (gold, silver, o bronze) na kanilang nakuha (Aside from the certificate of recognition, the 208 Pasigueño athletes who brought home medals, as well as 103 of their coaches, received P2.2 million. The amount of cash incentives they received depended on their medal won)," the city government said.
Pasig Chess Team member Sumer Justine Oncita and Pasig City Swimming Team Coach Jessie Lacuna commended the achievements that each athlete and their coach accomplished during the competition.
"Asahan ninyo na patuloy pang palalakasin ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig ang mga programa na may kaugnayan sa sports at sports development! Patuloy nating susuportahan ang mga kabataan sa kanilang mga pangarap at galing sa larangan ng sports (Rest assured that the city government of Pasig will improve our sports and sports development-related programs to further hone the skills and talents of our young athletes. We will continue supporting the youth in achieving their dreams in their chosen field of sports)," the local government unit (LGU) said.
