PRO-1 chief Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista attributed this to the intensified security measures and the extensive implementation of the Ligtas Paskuhan program leading up to and throughout the New Year with the community.
Evangelista said FWRIs dropped by 66 percent or 96 cases, with 187 in 2024 from 283 in 2023.
Police confiscated almost 3,000 prohibited firecrackers valued at P175,098 last Christmas.
Evangelista thanked the community for their cooperation and responsible actions during the holiday season. He lauded his men on the field who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the people.
“Thank you very much for following our regulations for safe observance of the holiday season and for your utmost cooperation with our local police officers for the peaceful Yuletide season celebration. This collaboration has played an essential role in maintaining peace and safety throughout the celebration,” he said.
“The decline in firecracker-related incidents reflects the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the community in promoting peace and order. We appreciate the community's cooperation in adhering to firecracker regulations, and we also commend the hard work of the different law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safe and peaceful celebration of the recent holiday season,” he added.
