BAGUIO CITY – Four bus drivers and two conductors tested positive in a surprise drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera here on Jan. 2.
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Land Transportation Office-Cordillera conduct a surprise drug test on public utility vehicle drivers and conductors in four terminals in Baguio City on Jan. 2.
Atty. Joshua Pablito, regional director of the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Cordillera, said those who test positive will undergo confirmatory testing to ascertain if they are indeed using illegal drugs.
The drug test was conducted on 98 bus and van drivers and eight conductors in four bus terminals, including the Gov. Pack Road terminal.
Pablito said their operators will be given a show cause order and concerned drivers and conductors will be subject to the corresponding administrative penalties if they test positive for illegal drugs.
He added that the drug test seeks to ensure the safety of the public.
The activity is part of Oplan Ligtas Biyahe Pasko 2024 led by the LTO to ensure the safety of commuters this holiday season.
