NATIVE dancers are expected to perform in the third Himorasak Festival in Matag-ob, Leyte this year.

Mayor Bernandino Tacoy attributed the increased agricultural output to the successful rice derby held last year that spurred further agricultural initiatives.

"We've seen a 40 percent increase in rice production and this is evident in the larger crowds we're seeing at the grand opening and Matag-ob Habhab Park," he said.

To share the prosperity, the local government will sell rice at P20 per kilogram to 1,000 indigent families.

Tacoy expressed optimism that the program will expand to enable more families in Matag-ob to avail all throughout the year.

"Hopefully, with the continuing increase of our harvest and economic growth, we will be able to achieve this goal with the help of our national government," he said.

Tacoy added that tourism is also thriving here, with visitor numbers doubling compared to the same period last year.

The LGU is actively developing new tourism sites alongside the Bondari Peak, their main tourist attraction.
