House Deputy Majority Leader Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre expressed believes that the "healing will begin soon" for alleged victims of abuse following the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

"No man is above the law, and no false God is above the law," Acidre, chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, said.

Quiboloy is the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God," a title his followers subscribe to. He is wanted for charges of child abuse and qualified trafficking.

"These are very serious charges that, if proven, can't go unpunished unless we live in a society devoid of rules and respect," said the Visayan.

"Dahil sa panatisismo, maaring ‘yung mga biktima ay hindi pa alam na inabuso sila, at ‘yan ay nakakalungkot. But the healing will begin soon," noted Acidre.

(Because of fanaticism, these victims may not be even aware that they've been subjected to abuse, and this is saddening.)

"Make no mistake, while we are eager to move on from this nightmare, the main goal is to ensure that the soul-less abusers are held accountable and given a taste of justice that they have long avoided," added the ranking congressman.

Meanwhile, Acidre gave the Philippine National Police (PNP) its due praise.

He said that Quiboloy's arrest was "the fruition of the [PNP] and its regional arm's hard work for months to capture one of the country's most notorious fugitive".

"Their relentless dedication in upholding justice, specifically in their two week pursuit within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ's compound in Davao City has paved the way for justice to prevail for countless victims who have long awaited the vindication of their rights. This development showcases the PNP’s resolve to protect the vulnerable and dismantle networks of exploitation," he said.

Quiboloy is the spiritual adviser of former president and Davao City mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
