Authorities allowed passenger vessels to sail as the weather condition in most parts of the country starts to improve.
As a result, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said there are no longer stranded passengers in all ports, especially in Bicol Region and Southern Tagalog areas where hundreds of passengers were initially reported to have been affected by no-sail policy at the height of “Enteng” onslaught.
In his inspection on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Batangas Port, PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said he already instructed all port managers in “Enteng” affected areas to initiate measures to resume the normal operations in their respective areas.
Among the measures are to ensure that all facilities, including free water-refilling and charging stations are all functional, as well as the good condition of all comfort rooms.
Santiago also lauded all port personnel in the affected areas for complying with his order to prepare early for the adverse effects of “Enteng”, which include providing free rice porridge to the stranded passengers.
“The role of the PPA is to ensure that passengers are comfortable, especially in times of bad weather conditions,” said Santiago.
Santiago said they are still conducting assessments on all ports.
