P20-M marijuana destroyed in Cagayan


CAMP MARCELO ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Authorities uprooted 100,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P20 million in Sitio Ulima, Barangay San Juan, Rizal, Cagayan on Saturday, September 28.

AUTHORITIES seized P20-M marijuana in Cagayan on Saturday.

These were burned onsite and authorities said the eradication operation not only targeted illegal drug production but also the supply chain that affects communities in the region.

“The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of our inter-agency cooperation in combating illegal drug activities,” Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., Police Regional Office-2 chief, said.

“The PRO-2, alongside our partners from the Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, will continue to intensify our efforts in eradicating illegal drugs in the region. We are committed to not only uprooting these dangerous plants but also to raising awareness in our communities about the consequences of drug abuse."

Marallag urged the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal drug activities to authorities.
