PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky presided over a command conference in Camp Delgado, the police regional headquarters here, where he ordered police chiefs to closely coordinate security measures with the Commission on Elections in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

“The security measures must be based on the prevailing situation and their respective areas,” said Wanky.

Based on the overall security plan, there must be increased police visibility in key places such as Comelec offices.

Checkpoints and intensified intelligence monitoring will be conducted to prevent violence during the October 1 to 8 filing.

Wanky reiterated to lawmen that they should be non-partisan as they are there to uphold the law. He also ordered them to continue other police priorities.

“Let me remind you that our focus on the election preparations must not overshadow our anti-criminality campaigns and anti-illegal drugs operations. This must mean to us intensifying our efforts,” Wanky added.
