31 wanted individuals surrender in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Thirty-one wanted persons were apprehended by the police in manhunt operations in the Cordillera region from September 13 to 19.

The Police Regional Office-Cordillera Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division said that the Baguio City Police Office arrested 11 wanted persons, followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) with eight, Kalinga PPO with four, Mountain Province PPO and Ifugao PPO with three each, and Abra PPO with two.

Seven were most wanted persons, five on the municipal and two on the provincial levels.

Twenty-three towns in Abra were crime-free, 10 in Mountain Province, nine in Benguet, eight in Ifugao, four in Apayao, and four municipalities and one component city in Kalinga.

In Baguio City, Police Stations 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 were also crime-free.

Meanwhile, marijuana valued at P9 million were destroyed in police eradication operations in Benguet and Kalinga on Wednesday, September 25.

In Kalinga, 46,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P9.2 million were discovered in two plantations in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.

In Benguet, 3,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P600,000 were found in Barangay Kayapa, Bakun.

Samples were taken for submission to the PRO-CAR Regional Forensic Unit.
