The award was received by Elvira Flores, head of the Human Resource Development Office, during the conclusion of the National Language Month celebration.

The city government is one of six government offices, both national and local, to receive the Level 2 award.

The Level 2 KWF Seal of Excellence in Public Service 2024 was awarded to the city in recognition of its efforts to implement the mandates under Executive Order (EO) No. 335, such as the active use of the Filipino language on social media, as well as its partnership with the KWF in supporting the celebrations of Literature Month, National Language Month, and other language-related programs.

In 2023, the city government received the Level 1 KWF Seal of Excellence in Public Service.

There are several levels to the award, with 4 being the highest level.

The KWF or Commission on the Filipino Language, is the official regulatory body of the Filipino language and the government institution tasked with developing, preserving, and promoting the various local Philippine languages.
