TACLOBAN CITY -- The chief of police of Jipapad town in Eastern Samar province was hacked and injured by a 37-year-old farmer inside the police station on Monday, September 23.
The victim, Lt. Norben Carnonera, was sitting at the lobby when the suspect, a resident of Jipapad, suddenly appeared and attacked him.
His colleague, Police Master Sgt. Brian Caigoy, shot and wounded the suspect.
The victim and the suspect were taken to the Jipapad Rural Health Unit.
Carbonara was hacked in the left arm and lower left abdomen and later moved and underwent surgery at Catarman Doctors Hospital in Catarman, Northern Samar.
The suspect was pronounced dead on arrival at the Jipapad RHU.
