Village chair, son gunned down in Ilocos Sur

A barangay chairman and his son were shot dead in Barangay Lapting, San Juan, Ilocos Sur on Monday night, September 23.

Police identified the victims as Barangay Caronoan, San Juan, Ilocos Sur Captain Bello Joseph Padua Valorozo, 52, and his son, Jumar Sotelo Valorozo, 24, farmer, also of Barangay Caronoan.

Initial investigation said the victims were onboard a van in Barangay Lapting when a man driving a motorcycle appeared and shot them at past 7 p.m.

Their vehicle ended up infront of a hardware store.

The victims sustained bullet wounds and were taken to hospitals in this province where they were declared dead.

Relatives, friends, and netizens condoled with the families of the victims on social media.

Police are conducting dragnet and follow-up investigations.
