Trendspotting: London Fashion Week spring-summer 2025

Here are some of the trends spotted on the runways of London Fashion Week spring-summer 2025

This year marks the 40th anniversary of London Fashion Week, and for this milestone edition, the British Fashion Council has pulled out all the stops to create a stellar style fest. After the city’s seasoned and emerging fashion houses and designers showcased their visions for the upcoming season, many trends emerged. From bold new silhouettes to pieces that evoke childhood nostalgia, these are some of the key trends spotted on the runways of London Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2025.

Fringe Fest

Fringe always adds character to a look with its movement and volume. Feben offered a fun and chunky take on fringe, while Roksanda embraced its dramatic flair with designs featuring fringe placed on the bias.

Tutu Much

Carrie Bradshaw proved that women are never too old for a tutu. For the coming season, designer Simone Rocha echoed this sentiment with a collection inspired by dance, while J.W. Anderson presented tutu-inspired pieces of his own.

Ruched Perfection

Ruching is among the dominant techniques brands and designers are embracing for the upcoming season. Francesca Lake’s contemporary tops showcased ruching in a fresh, innovative way, while Standing Ground used it to add texture to minimalist gowns.

Drop-Waist Dresses

Garments featuring drop-waist silhouettes have appeared on runways many times before. Erdem put a romantic twist on the style with a collection inspired by the novel The Well of Loneliness, while Toga gave it a modern, edgy spin with its “Labor, Order, Humor” collection.
