Bomb threat disrupts work at DFA

Employees at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Pasay City were forced to evacuate their respective offices after receiving a bomb threat on Tuesday, September 17.

Pasay City Police Chief Col. Samuel Pabonita said members of the Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) were immediately deployed after receiving the report at around 7 a.m.

The authorities declared the area clear of explosives at around 8 a.m.

Pahonita said the DFA building, located along the Service Road of Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, was immediately cordoned off and temporarily closed to motorists.

According to investigators, employees from the Philippine Embassy in Canada received the bomb threat through email and immediately alerted the DFA staff.

A thorough investigation is still being conducted by the police.
