For one, all is not lost for the Elasto Painters, who remained in the hunt not only for one of the Top 4 spots but also the top seed in Group B.

“We can have one bad game, two bad games, ang importante you don't lose your respect for yourself, you don't lose respect sa laro mo,” Guiao quickly reminded his charges after the 124-102 loss to the Kings.

The loss was only the second for Rain or Shine and still good with a 5-2 record in tie with Ginebra and San Miguel on the lead. However, Guiao admitted that the defeat against the Kings stings more as compared to their first against the Beermen.

“‘Yung sa San Miguel loss namin even if we lost yung game na iyon maganda pa rin yung feeling pero you lose by 20 plus points and this bad, I think yun yung pwede mag-dampen ng spirit mo, magpababa ng morale,” said Guiao.

“We just need to be careful on how we treat yung loss na ito, find ways to keep our momentum going and look for something positive which you can take out of this loss,” he added.

There are certainly a lot of silver lining the Elasto Painters can take from the loss, especially at how they managed to erase an early 15-point deficit in the first half. ROS went back-and-forth with Ginebra in the third frame before the Kings found their mark from deep to seize full control of the contest.

“Pumutok lang yung three-point shooting nila nung third I think ‘yon iyong key dito sa laro na ito. For a while as good as (Justin) Brownlee played, as good as Japeth (Aguilar) played, we were hanging in there, nakabuntot pa kami sa ganda nung nilalaro ng dalawa,” Guiao pointed out.

Guiao said his team cannot remain crying over spilled milk as ROS still has the chance to get a virtual quarters spot if it wins against NLEX on Tuesday, Sept, 17.

“You’re trying to get the best finish you can pero importante makarating ka sa next round. Six wins will get you there safe ka. Sa ngayon yun pa rin yung objective namin, di namin nakuha yung six wins ngayon, baka sa tuesday makuha namin,” he added.
