29 local governments suspend classes in Antique, Iloilo


ILOILO CITY – Twenty-nine local government units  in Antique and Iloilo suspended classes on Friday, September 13, due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon or "habagat" and low-pressure area.

Consolidated data from the Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that almost all towns in the province suspended classes as many areas have been flooded since Thursday night due to continuous rainfall.

Classes were cancelled in all levels in Barbaza, Belison, Bugasong, Pandan, Patnongon, and Sebaste. 

Classes from pre-school to senior high school were suspended in Anini-y, Caluya, Culasi, Hamtic, Libertad, San Remegio, San Jose, Sibalom, Tibiao, Tobias Fornier, and Valderrama.

Eleven LGUs suspended classes in Iloilo – Anilao, Duenas, Estancia, Igbaras, Miag-ao, New Lucena, Oton, San Enrique, San Joaquin, and Zarraga towns as well as the component city of Passi.

Iloilo City cancelled classes on Friday from pre-school to senior high school.
