"A master deceiver who believes her own lies."

That's Manila 2nd district Rep. Rolando Valeriano's unsavory description of Vice President Sara Duterte following her latest tirades on the House of Representatives when it comes to the budget process.

"My own takeaway: The Vice President is now on the defensive because our criticisms are opening the eyes of the people to the reality that the Vice President is a master deceiver who believes her own lies,"  Valeriano said in a statement Thursday, Sept. 12.

"Let her believe her own lies but she is no longer fooling the people. That is why she is on the defensive now. Her tantrums during the last OVP (Office of the Vice President) budget hearing were a disaster for her. That is the truth. She did the damage all by herself," the Manila solon said.

On Aug. 27, or during the initial hearing of the House Committee on Appropriations on the OVP's 2025 budget worth P2.037 billion, Vice President Duterte refused to directly answer questions on her confidential fund use, in what was described by some as a meltdown.

In the follow-up hearing last Tuesday, Sept. 10, the lady solon didn't bother to attend at all.

Instead, she began to release pre-taped media interviews wherein she assailed the ongoing budget deliberations. She claimed that only two people control the national budget--House Speaker Martin Romualdez and appropriations panel chairman Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co.

Vice President Duterte also said the OVP can still function even if Congress gives her zero budget for next year.

In a privilege speech earlier this month, Valeriano asked Filipinos not to elect the lady official as president.
