CAAP issues Notice to Airmen for flights near Kanlaon Volcano

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for flights near Kanlaon Volcano.

In a statement, the CAAP warned pilots that the volcanic activity could reach as high as 17,000 feet from the mouth of the volcano.

The latest NOTAM will be effective from 8:49 a.m. on Sept. 12 to 9 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Kanlaon Volcano is on Alert Level 2 (Increased Unrest).

Flight operations are advised to avoid flying close to the Volcano's summit due to possibilities of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions that may pose hazard to aircraft.
