Multi-faceted actress Bela Padilla has just added her name to the list of local celebrities who launched their makeup brand. The critically acclaimed actress and filmmaker launched two products—a cheek tint and a color-changing lip balm—through her brand Bela by Bela.
Formulated in Thailand and manufactured in the Philippines, Bela was beaming when she shared that their products were created to fit the tropical weather and to suit every skin type, even sensitive skin.
“As much as I wanted the Korean skincare and makeup, we have a different climate here in the Philippines,” Bela tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “That is why we were very specific about that. We wanted the formulation to be something that we can actually use here in the Philippines.”
But some may ask why only two products. The idea is for people not to buy so much makeup and to feel comfortable in their skin. Each product is designed to adjust to every user’s PH level. Thus, the color will change accordingly based on someone’s skin texture and color. As someone with sensitive skin herself, Bela said that their team tested the products for 15 months to ensure they were safe to use.
“It really took a lot of time for us to get to the product that we have now and this is something I am super proud of,” she says. “We have models of different age groups to prove that this is something everyone can use.”
When asked what message she wants to impart to those who will use Bela by Bela products, the actress said it is finding beauty in your skin. “I want to veer away from the idea of empowerment because your idea of empowerment should come from different things, not from how you look. Your empowerment should come from what’s inside you.” she says.
Bela also said that they designed their brand to make people see and feel their true selves when they are wearing the brand’s products.
“This is supposed to make you feel like you. It should make you feel you at your most beautiful state and I say that because our makeup is very simple,” she says. “When I use it, I don’t have a full face of makeup and that’s how I look everyday, very simple. But the cheek tint makes me feel good about myself because I look good without so much on my face. And that's what I want you guys to feel. I want you to feel pretty without so much on your face because we shouldn’t need that many products to feel good.”
