A month after his heartbreaking finish in the Paris Olympics, Obiena plans to share his knowledge to young individuals as he sees great potential for the country to excel in the sport.

But before doing so, the 28-year-old Obiena said pole vault needs to be seen and supported.

“So, you know there’s already the next generation and I think we shouldn’t wait until that. I can barely do it and start now,” said Obiena in a press conference organized by Milo Philippines.

“This is the right time. We need to invest. What I mean is make it accessible to everyone who wants to try it,” Obiena continued.

The Asian and SEA Games multi-champion also urged the sporting agencies to promote other disciplines as the youth’s interest in sports is continuously rising.

“Philippine sport and the kids and the interest is really at an all-time high and I hope, you know, the agencies that are responsible will take advantage of this,” Obiena added.
