Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced the relocation of some city government offices to the temporary city hall starting on September 16 as part of the Pasig City Hall redevelopment plan.
Offices that are not included in the relocation will be moved to the Pasig City Sports Center to remain accessible to the public.
On September 16, most frontline services such as those provided by the Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD), will start to move to the temporary City Hall at Bridgetowne in Amang Rodriguez, Barangay Rosario.
Sotto explained that the relocation was made due to structural issues found at the current Pasig City Hall such as cracks and fissures on its walls, floors, and other areas, along with complaints of leakages, uneven ground, and other similar issues.
“Handa na po tayong lumipat sa ating temporary City Hall facility. Alam ko yung mga ibang opisina na medyo malaki na yung cracks o gumagalaw kahit walang earthquake ay talagang excited nang makalipat (We are now ready to move to our temporary City Hall facility. I know that some offices, especially those with large cracks or that show movement even without an earthquake, are really excited to relocate),” he said.
The Pasig Public Information Office (PIO) will release a schedule detailing the locations and transfer dates of the various offices, indicating whether it will be relocated to temporary City Hall or will remain within the Pasig City Hall Compound.
The announcement to be made is to allow the local government some time to disseminate necessary information about the relocation.
Sotto assured city employees that all aspects of the relocation have been thoroughly checked and preparations for the transfer are being finalized to ensure system connectivity with the help of the Management Information Systems Office.
He noted that the transfer of offices will not happen simultaneously to ensure that there will be no issues in the temporary facility (such as connectivity and systems).
On July 8, Sotto announced the P9.6 billion approved budget for the contract (ABC) for the redevelopment of Pasig City Hall.
He said the city is planning to have a major redevelopment of the city hall, make it "future-proof," and serve Pasigueños for many years.
