Manila exceeds tax collection target

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced that the Manila's Bureau of Permits has achieved 105 percent of its target collection compared to the same period last year.

It also registered the highest number of new businesses in 2023 than in previous years.

Lacuna-Pangan lauded and thanked the Permits Bureau under the leadership of Chief Levi Facundo and all revenue-generating departments, bureaus and offices that contributed to the efficient economic climate in the city.

Facundo also thanked the mayor and Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto whose support have helped them achieve the target collection.

"Malakas at maayos ngayon ang kalagayan ng pagnenegosyo sa Maynila (Business conditions in Manila are now strong and healthy)," he said.


The bureau disclosed that it had processed 2,507 more business permits compared to the same period in 2023. 

With five months left in 2024, he expressed confidence that the bureau will reach or even exceed its target.

He noted that the bureau has reached 71 percent of 400 million budget and that there are 3,000 applications being processed for new businesses of which 2,000 already sent notices to settle their statements of account (SOA).

Facundo acknowledge the support of the local government to the programs launched by his bureau such as the first wedding expo in the city which injected P10 million to the city's economy and provided 400 jobs to residents.

Meanwhile, the city mayor called on business owners to take advantage of the digitalized system of the bureau for a more efficient and faster transactions to save them time, effort and money.

She said business inquiries may now be just emailed to [email protected] and that a response will be received within 24 hours.
