Couple tagged in murder of Japanese, Filipino mother arrested


TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – Police arrested on Tuesday night, August 6, a couple tagged in the killing of a Filipina and her Japanese daughter at Sunrise Village, Barangay Baguio, this city.

Police identified the suspects as Ligaya, 54, and her husband Charlie.

The suspects were apprehended on a warrant of arrest for murder dated August 5, 2024, issued by Judge Julieto Fabon Fabrero, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 168, Lucena City.

No bail was recommended for their temporary liberty.

The suspects allegedly killed Japanese Mai Motegi, 26, and her mother Lorry Litada, 54, Filipino, on February 21, 2024.

The victims were hit by a blunt instrument in the head and stabbed in the chest. They were buried in the backyard of their house in a subdivision in Barangay Isabang, Tayabas City.

Police unearthed the victims’ bodies on March 14 during a search in the suspects’ backyard.

Ligaya and Charlie were a couple and Lorry was Ligaya's sister. 

The suspects are detained at the Tayabas City police station.
