DOT vows to bring more gains for Philippine tourism

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has reiterated its commitment to deliver more gains for the country's tourism industry following President Marcos' emphasis on the need for a diversified strategy in the sector.

DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said the department is actively implementing the Philippine Experience Program (PEP), which aims to reintroduce the cultural and heritage tourism circuits focusing on arts, gastronomy, and wellness.

The projects have been rolled out across regions including Ilocos,  Bicol, Western Visayas, Davao, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula.

In line with efforts to improve tourism infrastructure, Frasco has emphasized plans for the modernization of airports and seaports nationwide, which are expected to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the DOT plans to establish a medical concierge and lounge at NAIA dedicated to medical tourism, providing comprehensive services for patients and delegates.

The completion of various tourism-related infrastructure projects, such as road and bridge improvements connecting provinces, underscores the DOT's commitment to strengthening domestic tourism.
