According to Fortun, he was tapped to address the issues circulating about Angelica and Carlos, which became a hot topic online as the 24-year-old gymnast won his historic two-gold medal in the 2024 Paris Games.

“The public is hereby informed that [all] statements made attributed to Mrs. Yulo and/or any of her children that are critical of, disparaging or tend to tarnish the accomplishments of her son, [Carlos Edriel Yulo] are untrue, fake, and mere products of imagination and fantasy by heretofore unknown individuals,” he added.

Fortun said they will file necessary legal actions based on the Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, against the perpetrators of malicious posts.

“Mrs. Yulo will be seeking the help of the National Bureau of Investigation in identifying these individuals, and will be filing the appropriate charges against them for Violation of RA 10175 (Anti-Cybercrime Law),” Fortun continued.

“The public is hereby reminded that the sharing of these fake posts, as well as harsh and libelous comments made in said posts, are also actionable under the Anti-Cybercrime Law. It is advisable that the public [delete] their comments to avoid prosecution,” he added.

Fortun also disclosed that Angelica was happy for the achievement of his eldest son and shared her message to the two-time Olympic gold medalist.

“Finally, Mrs. Yulo and her family wish to assure the public that they share in the jubilation of the entire nation in the achievements of [Carlos Edriel] and look forward to welcoming him home. I hereby quote her own words: "[Good for him kasi eto na ‘yong pinapangarap nya at eto na ‘yong pinakahihintay nya at nag-paid off lahat ng paghihirap nya]."
