SC mourns passing of retired JBC member Ilao Jr.


The Supreme Court (SC) mourns the passing today, Aug. 28, of retired Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) regular member for the private sector Toribio E. Ilao Jr., a former trial court judge.

Ilao, 78, was a regular JBC member from Oct. 24, 2016 until July 18, 2024. The JBC is a constitutional office that accepts, screens, and nominates appointments in the judiciary. 

He was a judge of the regional trial court (RTC) in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan from 2004 until his retirement in 2016 as RTC judge in Taguig City.

The SC said that Ilao’s family will hold a memorial service on Friday, Aug. 30, at Chapel 101 (Fleur De Lis), ground floor of Sanctuarium, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City starting at 4 p.m.

The inurnment service will be on Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Garden of the Divine World Columbary also in Quezon City, the SC said.
