CEU hosts global discussion on post-pandemic health care trends at 2nd AUAP ICOHS

Centro Escolar University (CEU), in partnership with the Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), hosted the 2nd AUAP International Conference on Health Sciences (ICOHS) from Aug. 27 to 28 at The Manila Hotel.

Under the theme “Emerging Trends in Health Care Post-Pandemic,” the two-day conference gathered esteemed experts, educators, and researchers to examine the latest advancements in health sciences.

“It is truly a pleasure and honor for Centro Escolar University to host this international conference, and we hope that it will be a productive day, especially for networking and establishing linkages and collaborations with one another,” said CEU President and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Ma. Cristina D. Padolina during her welcome speech.

Padolina emphasized that, beyond the horror and anxiety brought by the pandemic, there are valuable lessons that should not be forgotten but rather used to strengthen health care in the future.

AUAP Secretary General Dr. Anoop Swarup also delivered his welcome remarks, extending his heartfelt thanks to the participants and organizers.

“I am truly pleased to be a part of this august gathering today,” Swarup said. “Together, we have not only overcome the pandemic but will achieve greatness, which lies in each one of us,” he added.

Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) Executive Director Dr. Jaime Montoya delivered the first keynote speech titled “Emerging Trends: The Health Research Community’s COVID-19 Response.” His presentation highlighted the crucial role of health research in addressing the pandemic and preparing for future health crises.

Swarup followed with a presentation on “Technological Trends in Sustainable Health Care and the Future of Human Evolution,” exploring how technology and healthcare drive sustainable development and human progress.

Renowned urologist and researcher at St. Luke’s Medical Center Dr. Juvido P. Agatep Jr. concluded the keynote sessions with his talk on “Digital Transformation in Health Care: Advances in Medical Diagnosis and Management.”

Throughout the event, participants engaged in plenary sessions, scientific paper presentations, and poster displays. The conference offered numerous opportunities for networking and fostering cultural understanding among healthcare educators, enhancing global collaboration essential for advancing healthcare.

CEU Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Teresa R. Perez, along with a dedicated team of CEU faculty, staff, and administrators, spearheaded the planning and execution of the event, ensuring its success and smooth coordination.
