Remolona listed among top global central bankers

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. has been awarded an “A-” rating in Global Finance magazine’s 2024 Central Banker Report Cards, marking him as one of the top central bank governors in world.

In a statement on Monday, Aug. 26, the BSP announced that Remolona, who completed his first year in office last July 3, has been recognized for his strategic approach to monetary policy amid challenging economic conditions.

Global Finance’s recent announcement highlighted only the names of central bank leaders receiving “A” ratings, with the full report set to be released in the magazine’s October edition, available in print and digital formats as well as online at GFMag.com.

Joseph Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of Global Finance, praised central bankers for their efforts in combating inflation.

“Central bankers have waged war against inflation over the past few years, wielding their primary weapon: higher interest rates. Now, countries around the world are witnessing the tangible results of these efforts, as inflation has dropped significantly,” Giarraputo said.

The report also noted that three central bank chiefs received “A+” ratings from Denmark, India, and Switzerland, while seven governors, including those from Brazil and South Africa, earned “A” ratings.

Additionally, 15 leaders from countries such as Canada, the European Union, and the Philippines received “A” ratings.
