According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the man, who was reportedly distressed, was seen sitting on top of the footbridge at Padre Campa, at around 11 a.m., prompting them to respond immediately and negotiate with him to come down.

Personnel from the Uba Police Community Precinct (PCP) negotiated with the man through a megaphone, assuring that they would help him.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) climbed up to the roof to personally talk to the man.

After nearly an hour, they successfully rescued the man and provided him with medical attention.

Authorities did not disclose the man's reason for climbing onto the footbridge's roof.

However, they stated that he was later referred to the National Center for Mental Health for a psychiatric evaluation.
