House Speaker Martin Romualdez is urging the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to study the possibility of canceling the Philippine passport of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.

This was bared to House reporters by Deputy Majority Leader for Communications ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo in an impromptu press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20.

This developed a day after it was reported that Guo had left the Philippines on July 18.

"We believe she's already outside the Philippines," Tulfo said of Guo.

Tulfo said Romualdez directed his appeal to DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo.

The belief is that the cancelation of Guo's Philippine passport would help limit her actions abroad.

"Thereby, kung saang country siya without a Philippine passport (wherever country she ENDS up without a Philippine passport), then she would be an illegal alien in the country. Therefore she can be brought back to the Philippines," Tulfo said.

The Senate had issued an arrest order against the ex-Tarlac official for her alleged links to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) controversy.

Tulfo said there are normally two grounds for the cancelation of a Philippine passport; one, if the holder gets convicted; and second, if the passport was acquired through fraudulent means.
