The Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) training was designed to bolster security measures and ensure the safety of tourists at the country’s top beach destination in Malay town, Aklan province.

“This collaborative effort serves as a model for other tourist-heavy regions, demonstrating the importance of proactive security measures in fostering a thriving and sustainable tourism industry,” said DOT-6 Regional Director Crisanta "Krisma" Marlene P. Rodriguez.

The three-day training focused on the fundamentals of tourist policing – the Role and Mission of the Tourist Police, Tourist Behavior Patterns, Market Profiles, Local Tourist Products and Services, Gender and Development in Tourism, Child Safe Tourism,  Overview of the Incident Command System, Human Rights, and other critical areas essential to the role of tourist police.

This training was held in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Aklan provincial government, and the Malay local government.
