P20-M marijuana destroyed in Kalinga, Benguet


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Marijuana valued at more than P20 million was destroyed in Benguet and Kalinga from August 5 to 11.

Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, said they conducted 15 operations where 101,290 fully grown marijuana plants, 3,200 marijuana seedlings, and 1,700 grams of dry marijuana leaves and fruiting worth P20,590,000 were seized.

The most significant operations were conducted in Kalinga, where police conducted five eradication operations resulting in the destruction of marijuana worth P18.6 million and enforced an arrest warrant against a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.

In Benguet, seven removal operations were conducted in which P1,786,000 worth of marijuana was destroyed.

These accomplishments, Peredo said, highlights their strong commitment to ensuring community safety and maintaining a drug-free environment.
