"Umayos tayo (Put yourself in line), Cong. Zamora."
Taguig-Pateros Rep. Ricardo "Ading" Cruz Jr. had this to say--and more--to Taguig 2nd district Rep. Pammy Zamora on Wednesday, July 31, after the latter allegedly made a scene during relief efforts for city residents affected by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) and Typhoon "Carina" last week.
"Imbis na magbigay ng lakas sa mga apektadong kababayan at sa mga kawani ng barangay at lungsod na tumulong sa kanila, nagbitaw pa siya ng masamang pananalita at naglabas ng 'di tamang pag-uugali," Cruz said in a statement.
(Rather than give strength, hope and assistance to the affected residents and barangay and city officials helping them, she showed bad manners and uttered unsavory remarks against these people.)
Cruz was referring to the incident where Zamora tried to enter an evacuation center in Barangay Fort Bonifacio last July 25 and tried to distribute relief goods without coordinating with the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
This was a day after Carina and Habagat left much of Metro Manila and several parts of Luzon inundated with floods.
Due to the lack of coordination, Zamora's efforts went to naught, causing her to vent her ire to the CSWDO employees present.
Cruz says Zamora is no longer a rookie local government unit (LGU) official for her to not be aware of the protocols that require relief aid and donations to be coursed through the CSWDO to assure efficient distribution and handling.
"Siya dapat mismo ang manguna sa pagsunod sa mga patakaran katuwang ang CSWDO at Barangay Affairs Office upang masiguro ang kaligtasan at kaayusan," the Taguig-Pateros representative added.
(She must the first to lead in complying with the regulations set by the CSWDO and Barangay Affairs Office to ensure that safety and order in the relief distribution.)
He also reminded Zamora that in times of crisis, politics and other issues related to personal gain must not mar efforts to provide relief to affected families and communities.
"Kaya umayos tayo, Cong. Zamora. Sumunod tayo sa mga itinatag na protocols and supportahan natin ang proseso ng ating LGU upang matiyak na epektibong makakarating ang tulong sa mga kababayang nangangailangan
(Please put yourself in line, Cong. Zamora. We must comply with the protocols and the process set by the LGU to ensure that assistance will efficiently reach our affected countrymen)," Cruz said.
He also cited a good example, Senator Imee Marcos, who followed the protocols set by the CSWDO and coordinated with the LGU before going about with their relief distribution that concluded successfully along with several other private organizations and entities who complied with the regulations.
"Ikaw lang ang bukod tanging hindi sumunod at ayaw sumunod. Huwag kang bad example," Cong. Zamora," Cruz said.
(You are the only one who refused to obey and comply with the protocol. Don't be a bad example to others Cong, Zamora),
For her part, Zamora said there should be no place for "politicking" and red tape during times of calamities.
