A driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) died after his vehicle hit a 16-wheeler truck on Mel Lopez Boulevard, Tondo, Manila on Monday morning, July 8.
Authorities have yet to disclose the victim's identity.
In a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the victim, who was driving a Mitsubishi Xpander, was speeding along the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard until he hit the 16-wheeler truck that was parked beside the center island.
Due to the strong impact, the authorities said the Mitsubishi Xpander was stuck under the truck.
Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Manila Police District (MPD) worked together to retrieve the body of the victim.
The body was retrieved at around 11:30 a.m. and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead.
Authorities are still conducting an in-depth investigation into the case.
