P17-M shabu seized in Central Visayas


CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu worth P17 million was seized in Central Visayas in a three-day police operation dubbed Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations from July 5 to 7.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that 2.6 kilos of shabu were recovered and 174 drug suspects were arrested.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) confiscated one kilo of shabu worth P7.1 million from a 48-year-old woman. The suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque here past 3 a.m. on Friday.

Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, said that the aggressive illegal drug campaign in Central Visayas shows PRO-7’s commitment to sustain the government’s efforts against illegal drugs.

“Our continuous efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs stem from our deep commitment to support the government’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) program and the directives of the chief of the Philippine National Police to eradicate the illegal drug trade in Central Visayas and ensure peace and order,” said Aberin.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, 121 operations were conducted that led to the arrest of 213 persons.

The PRO-7 added that 104 operations against loose firearms were also conducted, resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals.

At least 101 unlicensed firearms were either confiscated or surrendered. Three explosives were also seized.

A total of 128 wanted persons were also arrested, 11 of them were most wanted individuals.
