DOLE presents job opportunities for workers affected by Sofitel closure


The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has presented employment opportunities to assist the workers who have been affected by the closure of the Sofitel Hotel.

DOLE-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) has partnered with Sofitel to discuss the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, according to Makati-pasay Field Office Director II Gerard Peter C. Mariano .

He the DOLE and Sofitel outlined the comprehensive framework of the Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, covering its objectives, components, implementation phases, and application process.

MPFO’s labor officer Divina Gracia R. Dean, elaborated on available livelihood packages, emphasizing the importance of aligning projects with community needs.

Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Social Security System (SSS) also participated to aid Sofitel’s affected workers in navigating government services efficiently.

Additionally, entrepreneurs Ms. Marie Joyce Co Yu and Mr. Jorge Wieneke, along with Go Negosyo representatives, conducted coaching sessions aimed at supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through knowledge sharing and personal experiences.

The initiative not only addresses immediate job losses but also challenges misconceptions about DOLE's role by showcasing its commitment to full support beyond labor disputes.
