DOH warns public against 'fake official' soliciting donations

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, July 8, cautioned the public against malicious individuals posing as agency official and soliciting donations.

In a statement, the DOH said that there are individuals pretending to be Health Human Resource Development Bureau (HHRDB) Director Johanna S. Banzon.

These actors are using the mobile numbers (0955) 7406258 and (0935) 7892114.

"The DOH clarifies that these cellphone numbers are not, in any way, associated with the HHRDB or with Director Banzon," it said, emphasizing that "such transactions constitute fraud and are illegal."

The DOH pointed out that criminal charges may be pursued against those engaging in such actions and reiterated its commitment to encourage the public to obtain information exclusively from legitimate sources and platforms, such as the health department's official links and social media.
