Mayor Sandoval inspects repair of Malabon-Navotas River navigational gate


Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval inspected the ongoing repair works at the Malabon-Navotas River navigational gate as part of the city’s effort to mitigate the effects of flooding during the rainy season.

The mayor visited the area on Thursday and Friday, July 4 to 5, to check the progress of the navigational gate repair.

The local government also ensured that all pumping stations and devices intended to reduce flooding are functioning properly.

“Mga kababayan, konting tiis at tiyaga nalang at magkaroon na rin tayo ng ginhawa. Sana ay maiayos na po natin ito (My fellow citizens, just a little more patience and perseverance, and we will also experience relief. I hope we can resolve this soon),” she said.

Sandoval also stated that the city government was coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to ensure that the damages would be repaired immediately and to discuss plans to maitain its stability.

During the monitoring, the authorities also conducted underwater and crane operations at the navigational gate to assess the necessary repairs.

The mayor expressed her gratitude to the personnel of city government for their efforts to give the best quality of service to the affected residents.

She also thanked the Malabueños for cooperation during the ongoing navigational gate repair.

The city government provided food packs and hygiene kits to 150 affected families in two barangays.

They also conducted the declogging activities, monitored riverwalls, and delivered fuels to all pumping stations in the city.
