BAGUIO could see a self-driven cable car in the future.

BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang and Zip Infrastructure CEO Takamasa Suchi recently signed a memorandum of understanding for the project witnessed by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and Zip Infrastructure Director and Head of Business Development Mario Ian Carlos Ferido Rebonquin.

Under the agreement, Zip Infrastructure will conduct a feasibility study for the operation and maintenance of its self-driven cable car system Zippar in Camp John Hay.

The technology aims to provide alternative transportation to relieve congested traffic.

"Zippar also offers a versatile design that allows riding in curves and branches while remaining automated and driven from a control center," according to BCDA.

Bingcang said that the technology is expected to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and promote environmentally sustainable transportation solutions.
