Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed gratitude to the private individuals and organizations who helped the city government mount its highly successful celebration of the city's 453rd founding anniversary or "Araw ng Maynila."

The mayor happily announced that the city government spent a very minimal amount for the activities lined up during the entire month.

"Maraming maraming salamat sa mga kaibigan at grupong tumulong. Halos wala po tayong ginastos (Thank you very much to friends and groups who helped. We spent almost nothing)," Lacuna-Pangan said.

The mayor had consistently vowed to observe austerity particularly when it comes to spending the city's funds.

She cited the numerous festive activities held in the city during entire month of June, leading up to the anniversary day on June 24.

The city, she noted, even extended the activities way past June 24 to make this year's "Araw ng Maynila" a month-long celebration.

She also thanked the city officials, employees and residents of Manila for their respective acts of support and cooperation that made the special occasion a success.
