Robredo campaign film ‘And So It Begins’ to premiere in PH on Aug. 21

The trailer for the Sundance documentary “And So It Begins” that chronicled the tail-end of the Duterte administration and the presidential campaign or so-called “People’s Campaign” of former vice president Leni Robredo in the run-up to the 2022 presidential elections was released on Wednesday, July 31.

It was posted on Robredo’s official Instagram page.

“Relive the hope, remember our 'why' AND SO IT BEGINS-arriving in Philippine theaters August 21, 2024,” she wrote.

On Tuesday, July 30, the former official teased her followers with the documentary’s poster.

The film, which premiered last April at the Sundance Film Festival 2024 and directed by Ramona S. Diaz, delved into the political events surrounding the 2022 presidential campaign.

At the core was Robredo’s volunteer-driven “People’s Campaign” or “Pink Movement,” which saw her supporters filling stadiums, streets, and avenues.

The trailer showed footages of the massive crowds that went to Robredo’s campaign rallies and even featured her campaign jingle, “Kay Leni Tayo.”

It also showed Rappler chief executive officer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa discussing the need to fight disinformation in the Philippines, as well as the fight for press freedom.

The film will be shown in Philippine theaters beginning Aug. 21.
